Imagine a gender-equal world, diverse, equitable, and inclusive, where differences are valued and celebrated. This International Women’s Day (IWD), we join the global movement to celebrate women’s achievements and reaffirm our commitment to advancing gender equality.
This year’s theme, #GiveToGain, reminds us that when we invest in women through opportunity and support, we all benefit. At Lockyer Valley Aquatic Centre, we are proud to spotlight the incredible women who are making waves and inspiring the next generation.
Spotlight on our Female Leaders: Meet Lauren
Lauren is a valued, long term Learn to Swim Instructor and Squad Coach at our centre. Her passion for water safety and the sport is evident in the incredible progress and achievements of her swimmers.

What inspired your career and what do you love about coaching? "I have always had a love of swimming, having swum competitively as a child. Now I get to share my knowledge with my boys and my squad. Seeing their growth is incredibly rewarding."
What is your advice for women looking to build confidence and give coaching a go? "Growing up, my coaches were all men; it can sometimes feel like a male-dominated field. However, the last workshop I attended was all women, and it was amazing to see that shift. My advice? Trust in yourself and remember, it never hurts to ask for help."
How do you stay motivated and prioritise your own wellbeing? "I still love to swim! Early mornings work best for me to get my laps in. I’m also motivated by my own children and my squad; I want to set a good example for them every day."
Celebrating Our Team
From our expert swim coaches to our support staff, the women at Lockyer Valley are the backbone of our community. We celebrate their expertise, their dedication, and the positive impact they have on our members' lives.
Together, we can forge gender equality. Together, we #GiveToGain.
Happy International Women’s Day!
